artist statement - Cosmos

The Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be….We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries.

Carl Sagan, Cosmos

The Cosmos series explores the links between the inner and outer realms of mankind and the quest to find peace by bringing these into harmony.

C G Jung saw the empiricism of natural science as an attempt to understand the human psyche by approaching it from the outer world and religion as an attempt to draw knowledge of the Cosmos from within.  The Cosmos series aims to link both of these approaches through art.

The images in Cosmos feature a central square containing a mystical mandala-like shape surrounded by a vast field of highly charged particles – to illustrate the interplay between the inner and outer worlds.

The results are striking large-scale contemplative images which simultaneously take viewers deep within themselves and to the outer reaches of creation.
